The Handbook of Commonly Prescribed Pediatric Drugs, Sixth Edition, attempts to present the most common trade names and pediatric doses, and should be used only as a guideline to these; it should not be considered as an official therapeutic document. If there is a discrepancy in therapeutic category, preparations, and dosages, the reader is advised to obtain official and more complete information from the pharmaceutical manufacturer.

PREFACE
We are pleased to present the Sixth Edition of the Handbook of Commonly Prescribed Pediatric Drugs. It has been almost four years since the last edition was published, and a significant number of changes were made to improve the present edition. All tables have been revised with the latest available information on drugs and drug products; we estimate that over 100 new therapeutic agents have been added. Many products with new therapeutic indications for children as well as many new dosage formulations have been included. Moreover, a few new therapeutic categories of drugs, e.g., Antacids, Drugs for Cystitis Fibrosis, Drugs for Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, and Keratolytics, have been added.
The tables on Immune Serums, Bacterial Vaccines, and Viral Vaccines have all been extensively revised and expanded. The Nutritional Section has been completely revised to, hopefully, a more useful form.
As always, we have prepared the Handbook of Commonly Prescribed Pediatric Drugs, Sixth Edition in an attempt to present the most common trade names and pediatric dosages. However, the use of drugs in therapy is constantly being
modified due to acquired knowledge obtained through new research data, clinical experiences, and approaches to the treatment of diseases in patients. In addition, the drug preparations that are available are continually changing. We have checked sources believed to be reliable
for the purpose of providing information that is appropriate and that reflects the general standards of practice accepted at the time of this publication. Nevertheless, the drug preparations and the dosages contained in this handbook should be used only as guidelines and the text should not be considered as an official therapeutic document, If there is a discrepancy in preaparation or dosage, the reader is advised to obtain official and more complete information from the pharmaceutical manufacturer.
We sincerely hope that this handbook becomes a valuable companion that will enhance your familiarity with drugs and drug prescribing for children. Please feel free to contact us with any suggestions, comments, and criticisms that you might have.
