PREFACE The Third Edition of Drug Charts in Basic Pharmacology is designed as a concise source of basic pharmacology and drug information. The chart format is useful in organizing the vast number of pharmacologic agents used in medicine. The First and Second Editions of Drug Charts in Basic Pharmacology were popular references for busy students and medical personnel. The Third Edition provides an updated index including both generic and common trade names (in CAPS) for each agent. The alphabetical listing of commonly prescribed drugs has also been updated for quich classification of agents. The Brief Drug Description section provides an alphabetical listing of a few key facts describing an agent or class of agents.
Drug Charts in Basic Pharmacology should be used with the Handbook of Commonly Prescribed Drugs, 16th Edition by G. John DiGregorio, M.D., Ph.D., and Edward J. Barbieri, Ph.D.. Each topic is placed in a chart format for quick reference. The charts are concise, detailed and user friendly. It should not be considered as an official therapeutic agent. If there is a discrepancy in the therapeutic category, preparation or indication, the reader is advised to obtain official and more complete information from the pharmaceutical manufacturer.
